Becks is a very impressive LBGTQ+ film with a musical element. While the film has a familiar story, the fantastic acting and complex characters make Becks a consistently engaging, emotional and entertaining experience.

BECKS proved to be an LGBTQIA+ movie that didn’t focus on the topic of sexuality as much as you’d expect. We’re more emotionally invested in Beck’s personal growth than who she ends up with. Truly an authentic drama that’s still hilarious.

Becks was captivating, witty, and hilarious thanks to the movie's protagonist Lena Hall, who plays Becks. The drama/comedy also expresses a high level of authenticity because it's so easy to relate to. I highly recommend this movie!

Becks is a refreshing, honest look at the nature of romantic relationships. After a messy breakup with her girlfriend, our titular character is forced to move back in with her Catholic mother while she sorts her life out. The film features some fantastic music and vocal work from Lena Hall, but the heart of the story is in the dialogue and relationships between Becks and her friends and family. The script is sharp and witty, but it also excels at using dialogue to dissect Becks to show the audience what makes her tick. The chemistry between Becks and Elyse (Mena Suvari), Dave (Dan Fogler), and her mother Ann (Christine Lahti) is where the movie really shines. Their exchanges are always interesting and informative, usually funny, and occasionally heartfelt. This is character-driven cinema at its finest.

The good thing about indie films is that we get to learn much more about filmmaking than with regular movies. Indie filmmakers have more creative freedom and often experiment more with the story.

If you want an uplifting realistic LGBTQ film, Becks is one you must see! It's lighthearted while addressing some serious subjects. And the original songs performed by Lena Hall throughout the film carry you through her growth as a person.

This film is solid. It does its job which is to, simply put, entertain. This story will draw you in, make you happy, make you laugh, and make you cry. This rollercoaster of a movie has so many moving parts that all work together perfectly.
